Happy Sunday!

“Today remind yourself that nothing is too good to be true. Your great hopes can be realized. Your most wonderful dreams can come true. All that you really need, you can have. An incredible goodness is operating on your behalf. If you are living a paltry life, resolve to stop it today. Expect great things to happen.” - Norman Vincent Peale

Here’s another great link for the Obama headlines.

It’s a New Day

For your viewing and listening pleasure:

Medical News

Reluctantly, I bring you a post unrelated to President Elect Barak Obama.

Here are two useful websites for researching the effectiveness of alternative therapies or finding general answers to medical questions. “What’s the Harm” examines the harm caused by believing in therapies that don’t work.

Have a wonderful Obamelated weekend!

Update: One note of caution: As always use your own good critical thinking skills. In my opinion, some of the articles on the “What’s the Harm” website lack good or complete science. My husband and I both have a different experience using ear candles (and use them regularly) than is cited in the website article. Of course, we don’t use them to clear toxins from our brain or such silly nonsense and the candles we use do not generate their own wax. The dangers noted in the article should be considered, though.

Obama Music

I had the pleasure of watching Obama’s first press conference today. It was so refreshing watching a leader who can compose coherent thoughts and sentences off the cuff. When a reporter asked him what books he was reading to prepare himself for the presidency, Obama had an answer. Ah, the joys of having a literate president again.

Our country is already starting a transformation. Everyone is saying it, everyone has noticed a change in our demeanor. We all seem more cheerful.

Here’s some more music composed for Barak Obama. I don’t know how, but somehow I didn’t get this one before the election:

Will.I.Am has a new song, “It’s a New Day.” Also nice.

No, thank you! Thank you Obama for giving us hope again!

When you love the news: Obama news. WOW! What a time to be alive!

May you have a wonderful obamelated Friday!! (It’s an excellent word, I can’t believe no one commented on my genius. After all, it happens so rarely.)

Victory Speech in Chicago

Okay, tell the truth, how many times have you watched the speech since Tuesday?

I have often said that the person we would want as president, that is the person who would run because he wanted to change the world not because of his ego, would never run for president. For many years, I was hopeful that Colin Powell would step up, but when he didn’t, it reaffirmed my conviction. He was too good a person to subject himself to the miseries of politics.

Then came Obama, who is the one you want as president. He is the person who would never run, who recognizes that the role of the presidency is about doing what is right for the country as a whole, not personal gain. He knows that it isn’t about personal ego, growing the riches of your oil buddies, and stubbornly refusing to admit when you have made a mistake, particularly when that mistake was borne from refusing to hear any diverse points of view.

I’m not saying that I don’t recognize Obama is a politician. Of course, he will be forced to say some things he doesn’t really believe (I hope “clean” coal is among them) to appease the stupid people. However, he is the president with a heart of gold and the kind of brilliance being president requires. (That complete discussion is still to follow.)

Today “Talk of the Nation” discussed the world reaction to Obama’s election. If you don’t want to listen to the whole program, at least listen to the email from the American in Ethiopia 13:00 minutes into the program. You will be moved.

Just for fun, here’s a song about Obama. You won’t be able to understand the lyrics though unless you speak Kenyan.
