New Blog: Sixteen Gold Gloves
As a courtesy to some of my readers who, despite my efforts to educate them, refuse to become Orioles fans, I’m considering creating a new blog for my Orioles posts.
When I started my blog last year, I had no idea what I would write about. I started the blog in part to figure out what I wanted to write about and in part to form a habit of writing. I especially had no thoughts that I would ever have any regular readers (for that I thank all of you who tolerate my meanderings!).
When MASN magically appeared, it changed everything for me. I, myself, after so many years, did not realize how much I missed the Orioles. I never dared to dream that I would ever get to see them again regularly so I didn’t foresee that such a large portion of my posts would be dedicated to discussing (crying over) them.
Once a team is in your heart, no one can replace them. For the short time I was able to watch the Braves regularly, it was baseball, yes, but I felt no emotional attachment to the team or the outcome. On an intellectual level, I know it’s silly to focus so much attention on a sport, to feel some particular affinty or distaste for someone just because of the uniform he is wearing, but that’s how it is. So, I can choose to either deny it or embrace it. I can continue to work at solving world peace and being a better person, but when it comes to the Orioles, I have to accept that this is just who I am.
So since I can hear the groans from hundreds of miles away from half of my readers when I post about the Orioles, and groans from the other half when I post about world peace, I’m planning to separate the Orioles posts. Now, I just need a name for my blog. Polite suggestions are welcome.
Update: The new blog can be found here.
